RSCP 2026: Introduction to Traffic Safety Culture

Posted: 1/5/2026

TRAINING: January 27, 2026, 10:00AM - 12:00PM PT

Introduction to Traffic Safety Culture examines how attitudes, behaviors, and organizational practices influence roadway safety outcomes. Presented by the National Center for Rural Road Safety (NCRRS) as part of the Road Safety Champion Program (RSCP), this session provides practical, evidence-based insights that professionals can apply to improve safety on local roads and within their communities.

This 2-hour training is the third in a 7-part series of online training that covers many of RSCP's career-focused modules. Each 2-hour session is free to attend and completion goes towards your requirements to become RSCP-certified. These courses may be taken out-of-turn and completed any time in the future when available.

RSCP is open to all staff from transportation, public health, and law enforcement agencies who have an interest in roadway safety but are not safety experts.

Training Objectives

  • Learn why growing positive traffic safety culture can significantly improve road safety in your community and nationwide.

  • Get a better understanding of the elements that shape traffic safety culture, how those factors interact to affect human behaviors, strategies that can be implemented to improve traffic safety culture among various groups, and ideas about how participants can use their role in growing a positive traffic safety culture.
