Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
TRAINING: January 21, 2026, 9:00AM - 10:00AM PT
The National Center for Pavement Preservation's (NCPP) Bridge Preservation Partnership (BPP) Local Agency program is hosting a free 1-hour training on Bridge Drift Removal & Scour Maintenance.
The lodging and buildup of streamflow drift against the bridge substructure interior supports and/or abutments is a frequent issue for stream-crossing bridges and can lead to structural damage, fire hazard, or other problems.
The training is specifically designed to teach the basics of bridge drift removal and scour maintenance and is geared towards meeting the needs of local agencies. The training will run through the common techniques for removing drift to avoid costly scour damage and bridge rehabilitation projects. The training will also include some common methods of installing and maintaining scour countermeasures.
This virtual training is being offered free of charge. Participants will gain a general understanding of why preservation is important, how to identify good candidates for preservation, what activities are available and an idea of cost and degree of difficulty with performing the work.

The National Center for Pavement Preservation (NCPP) was established to lead efforts among government, industry, and academia in the advancement of pavement preservation.
Founded in 2003, NCPP has advanced and improved pavement preservation practices through education, research, and outreach, and expanded its portfolio to include bridge preservation and heavy equipment management.
