Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
WEBINAR: February 10, 2026, 11:00AM - 12:30PM PT
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is hosting a webinar focused on the recent changes to the Manufactured Products General Waiver and how those changes will affect federal-aid highway projects. This session is designed to help project sponsors, tribal governments, and transportation professionals better understand upcoming Buy America requirements and prepare for future compliance.
With the termination of the long-standing waiver, manufactured products used in Federal-aid projects will now be subject to phased domestic manufacturing standards. These changes will influence procurement decisions, supplier coordination, and project planning timelines, making early awareness critical for organizations delivering federally funded transportation projects.
During the webinar, FHWA staff will review how the phased requirements apply based on project obligation dates, explain domestic assembly and component cost thresholds, and highlight key considerations for implementation. The session will provide practical context to support informed planning as the new standards take effect.
The Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act requires that all of the iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in federally funded infrastructure projects be produced in the United States.
BABA builds upon previous Made in America policies to help bolster America's industrial base, protect our national security, and support high-paying jobs.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
