Recording: Applying the Safe System Approach

Posted: 6/8/2026

The National Center for Rural Road Safety (NCRRS) hosted its second half-day virtual mini-conference Applying the Safe System Approach for Rural on April 30th, 2026. Recordings from the three sessions are now available for those who missed the live event or want to revisit the presentations.

This mini-conference focused on implementing Safe System principles in rural contexts, where road safety challenges often differ significantly from urban environments. Rural roads account for a disproportionate share of traffic fatalities, making targeted safety strategies essential for protecting lives in these communities. The Safe System Approach provides a comprehensive framework for addressing these unique challenges.

The recorded sessions offer valuable insights into applying this evidence-based methodology to rural road safety. Whether you're a transportation professional, safety advocate, or rural community leader, these recordings provide practical guidance on reducing fatalities and serious injuries on rural roadways.
