Key highlights on regulations, policies, and program funding for the transportation professional
WEBINAR: July 15, 2026, 10:00AM - 11:00AM PT
Join the Caltrans Division of Research, Innovation & System Information (DRISI) for an in-depth look at emerging concrete material innovations that support a more sustainable, resilient future for California’s transportation system.
This session highlights new research on alternative supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and the promising role of locally available natural and engineered pozzolans.
Concrete in California has traditionally relied on coal fly ash and slag—materials that must be transported long distances from out of state. This webinar explores how homegrown alternatives can reduce supply-chain vulnerabilities, lower environmental impact, and deliver comparable or improved performance in pavement applications.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will gain a clear understanding of the alternative SCMs under study, how they perform in both laboratory and field settings, and how these materials can support Caltrans’s long-term sustainability and resilience goals.
The session will also provide insight into recent research findings, lessons learned from demonstration projects, and opportunities for cross-functional collaboration.
Presenters:
The Caltrans Division of Research, Innovation & System Information advances California’s transportation system, develops comprehensive transportation solutions, and creates and distributes transportation-related knowledge and information.
Their webinar series "DRISI Presents" is designed to connect experts to those interested in learning more about transportation-related issues.
"There can be no doubt that the transportation sector is the most critical sector of our economy."
