Advancing Safety Through the CSSA

Posted: 5/18/2026

WEBINAR: May 28, 2026, 12:00PM - 1:00PM PT

Join UC Berkeley's SafeTREC for a peer exchange focused around how smaller cities like Wildomar, CA are moving the needle on local road safety.

Through their partnership with the Complete Streets Safety Assessment (CSSA), the City of Wildomar was able to move from safety planning to actionable safety improvement changes … and they want you to join the conversation!

Hear from presenters as they offer lessons learned from their CSSA findings, after which the floor will be open for a practitioner peer session where you can share your experience, ask questions, and hear from others on the work they’re doing.

The goal of this exchange is for attendees to share roadblocks and strategies for navigating grant funding, their experience applying AB43 and installing speed reduction infrastructure to tackle unsafe speeds, and more.

Presenters:

  • Jason Farag, Senior Project Engineer, City of Wildomar
  • Steve Libring Consulting City Engineer, City of Wildomar
  • Tom Mericle, Technical Evaluator, UC Berkeley

SafeTREC welcomes all former, current, and prospective CSSA participants to join and hear success stories, troubleshoot common challenges, and learn directly from peers who are transforming California’s roads one intersection at a time.
